A Reference for Bradford Lingo

Accountability

Short for School Accountability Committee.  The committee serves in an advisory role to the school principal on issues that are currently effecting the school and community.  Meetings are held every other month. All are welcome to attend these meetings.

Bash

This is an offering at our Fall Fundraiser. An individual donates a themed party or event that people can purchase a ticket to attend at a future set date (some examples: Parents vs. Kids Kickball Tournament, Cinco De Mayo Taco Party, and a Progressive Dinner Bike Ride). 100% of money raised from the Bashes are donated to the Bradford PTA. 

Blitz 

A fundraising campaign held during the fall where the PTA solicits direct donations.

Continuation Ceremony 

Every May the PTA hosts a ceremony for all eighth graders to celebrate the transition from middle school to high school. 

Fall Fundraiser

Each fall the PTA hosts a party to raise funds for our school. 

Finance Committee


The finance committee is composed of seven members: the treasurer, who shall be the chair; the president; the second principal not serving as appointed to the board; two Bradford faculty members, appointed by the faculty committee; and two members at large, appointed by the president.  Additional non-voting members-at-large include the vice-president, secretary, Principal serving on the Board, and the Assistant Principal. The Finance Committee reviews budget requests and present an annual budget to the Board of Directors for review prior to approval by the membership. 

Handbid 

The app used for our Fall Fundraiser. Buy event tickets, bid on auction items, and purchase your ticket for a Bash.

New Student Meet and Greet

The PTA welcomes new to Bradford students to come mingle with the school principals and PTA officers. Usually held the Friday before school starts.

Nominating Committee 

The nominating committee consists of three PTA members who are elected by the board of directors of this PTA. The committee works to nominate at least one eligible person for each position/office to be filled.  Then they present the nominees at the regular membership meeting at least thirty days prior to the election. 

North Campus

Also known as Bradford Intermediate, the North Campus is located at 2 Woodruff. This building has grades 5th-8th.

South Campus

Also known as Bradford Primary, the South Campus is located at 1 White Oak. This building has grades kindergarten - 4th. 

Staff Appreciation Week

Usually held at the end of April or early May. We spend a whole week celebrating Bradford teachers and staff. Each day there is a different event to show our appreciation. A few things we have done in the past include: coffee and pastries, catered breakfast, food trucks, gift cards, and a snack bar. This event is supported by the PTA budget and direct donations. 

Stallion Stampede

The spring fundraiser is a fun run for students.  Usually held in May. 

Tears and Cheers

On the first day of school, the PTA hosts a get together to celebrate and/or commiserate with parents and guardians of kindergartners. Tissues are provided!

Walking and Wheeling Week

The first Wednesday of May is National Bike and Roll to School Day. Bradford celebrates the whole week with aid stations throughout the community and celebrations at school to encourage students to safely walk and wheel to and from school.
