Chess Club

This past year’s Bradford Chess Club was both exciting and rewarding for all involved. The kids did really well and showed major improvement from the beginning to the final week of the season. The Bradford team finished in 3rd place in the Denver Chess League Elementary Division and we had two students place in the Colorado State Championship Chess Tournament!

We are poised to have a great team this coming 2016-17 year which will start up in Sept/Oct (exact date TBD) from 3:45-4:45pm in the North Campus (Intermediate) Library.  This year, students will have a chance to learn from Rowan Tate with Wiz Kids, a very experienced and enthusiastic coach. Prospective players will need to have a basic knowledge and understanding of Chess.

We welcome all newcomers and also are reaching out to any parents that would like to volunteer to be the chess administrator for the 2016-17 year. Chess club meets once a week for about an hour and there are anywhere between 5-9 tournaments with other elementary schools throughout the season. Please contact Kevin Donofrio at kevdono8@hotmail.com or (720)371-6388 if you are interested and want to know more.

We would also like to thank all of the parents that donating their time driving students to tournaments and bringing snacks for these tournaments!
