Service Learning Clothing Drive

Bradford PTA Service Learning Update

As the colder weather begins, many students in Jefferson County are without sufficient clothing. The Service Learning Committee continues its partnership with Serving Kids to provide donations for our fellow Jeffco kids.

Serving Kids has been helping students in need since 1996. Retired Jeffco Schools employees spend countless hours collecting, laundering and delivering clothing to Jeffco students. Staffed by volunteers, the Serving Kids program provides a week’s worth of new or near-new clothing, including jeans, coats, shoes and more, to any student in Jeffco Public Schools who needs it. The program differs from other clothing projects in Jeffco, because orders for clothing are placed by Jeffco schools staff and delivered to students in the privacy of their school. The program is supported with donations of children’s clothing and cash from around the community.  The program is supported by a partnership of the Jeffco Schools Foundation, Jeffco PTA and Jefferson County Administrators Association.

Collection bags will be located in each crew classroom. New and gently used clothing welcome. As well as new packages of underwear and socks. This program supports all Jeffco kids, from Pre-K through high school. Information will be provided to students in their crew class from staff and students.

If you have questions or are interested in helping deliver the clothing contact Betsy Bellissimo (betsybellissimo@gmail.com) or Meg Hollingsworth (meghollingsworth@me.com)

PTA Reflections 2017-2018

It’s time for your child to release his/ her artistic side!  Does your child enjoy drawing pictures? Does he love to take unique photos or video?

Is she passionate about dancing? The PTA sponsors a national Reflections program annually to support these arts and more.

Each year for the Reflections program, students are encouraged to create an original work of art in any of 6 categories: Dance/Choreography- Literature -Visual Arts (drawing/ painting) – Photography Film/Video – or Music Composition; that is based on a theme.  This year the theme is:

“Within Reach”

Your child will have about a month to create a new piece of artwork inspired by this year’s theme.  Each submission needs to be the ORIGINAL work of one student ONLY.  The submitted artwork will be displayed at the Bradford schools and all students will be recognized for their participation.  Some artists will have the opportunity to win awards for their work and have their submissions judged at the

county, state or national level.

Please refer to the following for tons of information!! http://www.jcpta.org/programs/reflections/reflections-students/

Entry forms will be in both school offices

For more information, contact Kara Schwalm kaschwalm@yahoo.com

All entries must be submitted to either school office by

Wednesday, October 11th.
